"I have to thank you for letting us stay in your nice little cottage. We had a fantastic stay in Collioure. We have been in several French villages, but this is by far the most beautiful. During the stay, we never felt like leaving to other places, since the village had everything we needed. Good restaurants, nice scenery, good beaches. The cottage was perfect for us, very practical, and located nicely in the old village, we felt like locals!! We spent many evenings at the local small restaurant down at the first corner. The kids were playing with their light plastic balls on the square with all the other kids who were dropping by, while we were sipping a rosé or two after a nice Asian meal. Perfect, and created loads of good memories."

"We had a wonderful time in Collioure and the cottage was perfect...so charming, perfect location and it had all we needed. Loved the Can Pla restaurant...ate there three times, so often that the owner and the resident cat became "friends"! "

"It's difficult not to fall in love with Elizabeth and Peter's fisherman's cottage. And it was very difficult to leave it at the end of a 3-month stay in 2010. Full of character, light and charm it is very well equipped and comfortable, with the extra bonus of your own private outdoor space. The agent, Jane, was incredibly helpful and I quite soon settled into feeling this was my own, perfect home in Collioure. In fact, I loved it so much that I intend to return. Often.

And it couldn't be better situated. The Faubourg area is to my mind by far the best place to stay in the most beautiful place in France. It takes about 50 paces to reach the shops and the sea. The view is magnificent and the shops have everything you will need, from a baguette ancienne to a kir catalan, and several good restaurants. A short walk around the walls of the Chateau Royal takes you to the more touristy part of Collioure where every street presents a new sensation and the beaches roll right up to your café seat. There is much to love about Collioure but don't forget to pause and contemplate the light. It's what brings so many artists to the area and it really is special.

Comfy, cosy and convenient

"This quiet little house in one of the old parts of Collioure was an excellent base for a very cold, but mainly sunny February holiday.  Although it looks from the photographs as if it is a two-storey cottage, the accommodation is actually all on one level with the entrance at the top of the little flight of steps.  The ground floor is disused storage space - presumably where the original fishermen would have stored their gear

The photographs are an accurate representation of the property, but don't show how well equipped the kitchen is, the amount of useful storage both for clothes and food, and how easy it is to keep the property warm even at below zero temperatures outside.  We found the seating and bed very comfortable.

It is about a 2 minute walk to the sea and a selection of restaurants and small shops including an excellent boulangerie, a small food shop, and a pharmacy - and also to a bus stop where you can catch a comfortable, unbelievably cheap bus to the villages towards the Spanish border, or into Perpignan.  A 5 minute walk will take you to more shops including an excellent small supermarket (Shopi).  There are also two markets a week in the little square in the centre of the village.  The railway station is about 10 minutes easy walk from the cottage.

We found Collioure in February quiet and friendly, and the walking in the hills and vineyards behind it (and behind the other villages along the coast towards Spain) was excellent, and as easy or difficult as you choose to make it.  Quite a lot of the coast towards the Spanish border is also walkable.  There is a good 1 : 25000 map available from a little bookshop / newsagent near the market square, and the lady there spent a long time pointing out some good walks to us.

Highly recommended altogether!"
